Turmeric has been showing up just about everywhere. This magical spice can transform any dish, provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits, and boost the immune system. It also makes the skin smooth, removes fine lines and other signs of premature aging, reduces acne, and lightens scars.
Turmeric’s newest role comes in the form of a golden milk, a turmeric-based elixir to help renew mind, body, and spirit. With its warming taste and velvety texture, golden turmeric milk is a perfect calming evening drink to soothe the digestive system, relax your mind and prepare you for a refreshing sleep.
½ cup water
¼ cup turmeric powder
Add the water and turmeric to a small pot over medium heat. Turmeric easily stains so be careful and wash right away.
Gently stir the water and turmeric into a paste consistency. If it becomes too dry, add a little water.
Cook for about 7 – 10 minutes. It should become slightly darker. Store in a glass container in your refrigerator to avoid permanent staining.
2 teaspoons turmeric paste (from above)
4 cups non-dairy milk (we used Silk Vanilla Almond Milk)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
Add the paste and milk to a pot over medium heat.
Stir slowly until the milk is warm, not boiling.
Add vanillia, cinnamon, and nutmeg
